Back To Chloe Ting’s 2 Week Shred Challenge. It was last May when I tried Chloe Ting’s 2 Week Shred Challenge, and I hated and loved it at the same time. I loved the fact that it was free, and only a few minutes out of your day. Don’t get me wrong though. Those few minutes are HARD! After the challenge I felt so much stronger and healthier. You can read all about my experience in the original post by clicking here.
So why am I coming back? Last Summer my oldest friend asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding in December. I was thrilled! I also saw this as an opportunity to really crack down and get into a little better shape. I will not be in the same shape as I was in my twenties, but it was a nice excuse for a fitness goal.
My first instinct was to join a Cross-fit gym. I had done Cross-fit before and I loved it. I loved the varied workouts and the camaraderie. I joined a gym in Sept that was close to my kid’s school so I could do the workout right after I dropped them off. It was just as I remembered it, and for three full months I went regularly. The workouts were hard and I pushed myself to the limit.
The wedding is next week, so I ended my gym membership November 29th. I didn’t want to fall off the wagon too much so close to the wedding date, so o I decided to do the Chloe Ting challenge again. Here is what happened.
13 Minute total workout time – 3 sets / 7 exercises per set / 5-10 second breaks / 15 seconds off in-between sets
DAY 1 – (December 4th) I just finished the 13 minute video. WHAT THE HECK!!??? I have been doing Cross-Fit for three months. This should not have kicked my butt so hard. But it did. It felt like the first time I tried her torturous workout. I also realize I really need to stretch more. I really struggled through each exercise and I was out of breath for most of it. I took a lot of breaks and still came out sweating buckets in the end. It didn’t look pretty, but I am glad I did it.
DAY 2 – (December 5th) For some crazy reason I have decided to do her workout every day. After yesterday I thought it best to do them every other day, but that was just the pain talking. Today wasn’t nearly as bad as yesterday (THANK GOLLY!!). Maybe I loosened up a bit. I still needed to take breaks, but at least I wasn’t crying as much. How can these workouts be so hard? It doesn’t look that bad in the video, but when you do it … well… just ow.
DAY 3 – (December 6th) I made a bad life choice. I had dinner which consisted of a hotdog baked in a Cresent roll and a salad with egg, tomatoes, and feta cheese. Then 30 minutes later I did the Chloe Ting Workout. That was horrible. My stomach is saying things to me that would make the devil blush. GEEZ! Still better than the first day though. That’s a bit odd. My form was still way off, but it’s getting better the more flexible I am. I am sweating and breathing heavy, so I am feeling good about myself. The dinner wasn’t a smart choice, but I did the workout and I am staying on track. i will give myself a gold star for the good life choice.
Day 4 – (December 7th) Day of rest
Day 5 – (December8th) Timing was not on my side today. I have been baking Christmas cookies for most of the day. I kept meaning to do the workout earlier, but I was on a roll. After dinner tonight (chicken sandwich from Popeye’s… Yaaaa, I know. Another bad life choice) I went straight into the workout. I am now completely used to the gross feeling of food in my stomach when I workout. It doesn’t stop me though. Check out my view while working out.
The absolute last thing I want is a cookie. I want buckets of water. I have a few more batches to make, then I am done for the night. No temptation here.
